Abstract—Indonesian Small and Medium Enterprises have attempted to implement Enterprise Resource Planning System to streamline their business proceses and become more competitive in the global market, albeit with some problems. This paper illustrates the knowledge transfer challenge and the methodologies employed in two Indonesian SMEs to facilitate knowledge transfer during their ERP System implementation projects. The case studies involved fieldwork and interview at Company 1 and Company 2’s offices. Our results show that lack of absorptive capacity and knowledge sharing culture were the major impedance for the success of ERP System adoption in both companies. Therefore, we argue that it is important for Indonesian SMEs management to view their ERP system implementation from a knowledge management perspective.
